3.Application:
An antibiotic produced by the soil actinomycete Streptomyces griseus. It acts by inhibiting the
initiation and elongation processes during protein synthesis.
For tularemia, plague, brucellosis and glanders serious treatment (often combined with tetracycline
or chloramphenicol). Also used second-line treatment of TB and multi-combination with other
anti-TB drugs.
